The F.I.S.T. Bike Fit Protocol
This ‘best position’ for each rider is found elegantly through a demonstration of comparative seat angles and corresponding front end positions. The rider can feel the difference between “better” and “best” via sensory feedback, the most successful fit being driven by comfort, which IS power and cycling efficiency.
The final choice produces a riders ‘fit co-ordinates’ which on an EXIT Bike, or similar, generates the all-important Stack and Reach figures, from which you can find the ideal frame. That deal you spotted on-line, or at your local bike shop, is only a deal if it provides the right Stack and Reach for your ideal riding position which is driven by your particular morphology.
The system is called The Fit Institute Slowtwitch or F.l.S.T. bike fit protocol and Ten-Point went to the high desert of California to learn direct from Dan Empfield himself in order to bring the experience to you. Ten-Point is the first and
only store in the UK to be certified to offer the F.I.S.T. tri and road bike fit protocols, and has both male AND female fitters.
The F.I.S.T. bike fit system at Ten-Point utilises an advanced bike fit simulator, dynamic measurements, the innate ability of the human body to distinguish between better and best, the eye of the skilled bike fitter and the inescapable truth that with reference to ‘best practice’ we are more alike than we are different.
The resulting fit co-ordinates can be used in several ways:
1. To establish whether the rider will be more comfortable on a tri or road bike;
2. To pinpoint the style/geometry of tri or road bike that most suits the rider;
3. To decide the best frame size;
4. To optimise the riders’ position on that bike’s geometry;
5. To improve cycling position on an existing tri or road bike.
