Chung Shi Footwear - shoes, sandals and boots

More physiological footwear, this time from Germany, in the form of Chung Shi Footwear. The range includes Chung Shi Shoes, Chung Shi Trainers, Chung Shi Sandals and waterproof Chung Shi Boots and Chung Shi Shoes.  They all use gentle angles either side of a clever ramp to achieve the wonderful postural tone, postural improvements and gait corrections we should expect from great footwear that allow feet to relax and the body to be dynamic. 

Our favourites are the Chung Shi All-Weather Boot and Shoe, because if you are attempting distances, biomechanically the goal has to be to use your body efficiently, with dynamic use of the larger muscle groups in the body, and enabling feet to be used solely (pardon the pun) for the business of covering ground as lightly as possible.  And the Chung Shi Boot All Weather  and Chung Shi Shoe All Weather  help you do exactly that.  No heel strike, no toe off, a soft roll through the feet and because of the improved body alignment, an enhanced use of the engines of forward motion - the hamstrings and buttocks.  

Chung Shi Boot All Weather Balance Step : 

Construction: Nubuck leather and fabric upper, textile sockliner, integrated tongue, completely waterproof and breathable Sympatex membrane (Sympatex is the German manufacturers  material of choice for breathable waterproofing with less of an environmental impact than produced by Goretex) and profiled gold-standard Vibram rubber outsole for sure grip off-road. 

The boot shape makes for a great fit, without the ankle covering interfering with the function of this important joint.  Ankles should not be externally supported (unless in the early stages of injury rehabilitation), as the correct body alignment achieves this without weakening the joint, rather the shape of the Chung Shi boot protects the ankle from rocks, undergrowth and wetness pouring in from above!

After the initial 5 minutes of getting used to the new feel underfoot, walking off-road in these Chung Shi boots feels like being in your favourite slippers.  Simply the best walking boot we've ever tested.   

Chung Shi Shoe All Weather Balance Step : 

Construction: Nubuck leather and fabric upper, textile sockliner, integrated tongue, completely waterproof and breathable Sympatex membrane (Sympatex is the German manufacturers  material of choice for breathable waterproofing with less of an environmental impact than produced by Goretex) and profiled gold-standard Vibram rubber outsole for sure grip off-road. A good choice for those who dislike anything around the ankle, or for summer off-road walking where leaving the ankle free feels so much more comfortable. 

For Trailwalker, Helen alternated her Chung Shi All Weather boot with the All Weather shoe, and with temperatures during the day in the high 20s, the plan paid off with cooler ankles and a happy sense of there being little on her feet.

Chung Shi Sandal Comfort Step  in black and white: 

Construction: Leather/fabric upper, funky yet practical toe-guard which stops the 'bits' getting in when you're out and about, removable insole for hygiene and comfort, Velcro fastenings for customized fit.

These Chung Shi sandals are a great option when orthotics are necessary, as the removable insoles can be replaced with your prescription insoles and so foot function remains the priority even in the heat of the summer!

  

Chung Shi Travel Shoe Comfort Step : 

Construction: High quality Nubuck leather outer with heavy-duty suregrip pads at toe and heel as additional protection, special padded tongue, removable insole with integrated air channels, flat laces to reduce pressure on feet, rubber outsole.

Very popular as a day-to-day Chung Shi shoe, and especially useful for those parents still pushing buggies, as the Chung Shi technology enforces a better posture and walking movement despite the position the buggy tends to encourage!

 

Chung Shi Shoe Comfort Step Classic Black :

Construction: Water-repellent outer combo of full-grain and artificial leather, textile inner, special padded tongue, removable insole with integrated air channels, rubber outsole. 

The preferred option as a Chung Shi shoe for work, this plain black leather is unobtrusive in looks, but performs well as a posturally correcting, posturally toning shoe even whilst at the office.

Chung Shi All Weather Boots and Shoes the footwear for ultra-distance challenges
